Dear members,

It's been a busy few months at the KAR offices, and I already had the pleasure of attending a board meeting and several KAR committee meetings.

Staff is working on some interesting new initiatives over the next few months, the first of which is a revamped new member orientation program due out next month. There are also a few new apps in the works, as well as some updates to the KAR Member Portal.

Education

 

KAR and KADREA are working together to bring you monthly PDP courses so that you can get your credit hours more quickly, and you'll have more options to choose from.

The KAR Member Portal is the main resource for all your education information, and it includes a calendar of the monthly courses offered by both associations.

Brand new "My Profile" in the KAR Member Portal - what does this do?

KAR maintains a membership record for each of our members, and that record's information gets pushed out

to many different sources, including Xposure and REALTOR.ca. You now have the opportunity to make edits to some of the information, and you can build up your profile on REALTOR.ca.

MLS® Department

Can you list a property subject to probate? Here's what the KAR Rules of Cooperation say:

1.4 Estate Sales


If the listing is for sale by, or on behalf of, the estate of a deceased person, the brokerage must have on file a copy of the grant of probate or grant of administration issued by the court. If an estate grant has not yet been issued, the listing may be accepted and made as a contingent listing pursuant to Section 1.18 provided that the Listing Brokerage must obtain and keep on file a letter signed by the lawyer for the estate confirming that the listing party has the authority to sign the listing as the person named as executor in the will of the deceased person, and has applied for a grant of probate. The grant of probate, when issued, must be obtained and kept on file by the Listing Brokerage.
